Drawing Afield Conversation

Workshop Introduction Lecture

Workshop Brief

Group A - Hiroshi Kawano

Pseudocode

  1. Open the composition
  2. Choose 4 colors from the composition, or add to 4 in random 5x5 cells, as movement factors and move by one cell in different directions, i.e. red pixels go up, yellow down, orange left, brown right.
  3. Border three random range of rows and columns in one of the 3 colors and line weights of your choice.
  4. Darken the movement colors gradually from one corner to the diagonally opposite.
  5. Close the composition

Group B - Vera Molnar

Pseudocode

  1. Open the Composition
  2. Find your team member’s birth date day (for example if you were born on April 16th, you use 16 as the number), then you use each number to select a row.
  3. Consider all rows between those numbers (including themselves) and select colored cells in those rows.
  4. Replace cells fill color with a random color that you pick from this website: https://www.webfx.com/web-design/random-color-picker/
  5. Select row 30 to row 60 cells, copy, and select AH1 cell to “paste transposed.”
  6. Do the above steps 3 times and each time select the same number of rows as the step 3 with 10 gaps from the previous set. (13-17 (first round), 28-32 (second round), 43-47 (third round))

Group C - Attila Kovács

Pseudocode

  1. Open the Composition
  2. You can only copy & paste (any iteration of paste is ok).
  3. # of times pasting corresponds with the number showing on the minute hand at that time.
  4. Pasted objects must overlap with the original cells copied.
  5. Each person simultaneously edits along with the other group members, each copying a square cell ratio (1:1) corresponding with the day of their birth.
  6. Each person completes operations 5 times.

Group D - Peter Halley

Pseudocode

  1. Open the composition
  2. Select two random rows (“Row A” & “Row B”). Move “Row A” DOWN or UP a positive value between 1-20. “Row A” will then trade places with the row chosen by the random value (Positive 1-20).  Repeat step for “Row B” (second selected row) but choose a negative value between 1-20.
  3. Select two random columns (“Column A” & “Column B”). Move “Column A” to the side with a positive value between 1-20. “Column A” will then trade places with the column chosen by the random value (Positive 1-20).  Repeat step for “Column B” (second selected column) but choose a negative value between 1-20.
  4. Select 5 random number sets (Set of 2 numbers each “X & Y”). Replace the color of the square, chosen by the random number, with the color that is closest to the original chosen square.

Group E - Ryszard Winiarski

Pseudocode

  1. Open the composition
  2. Generate a random number between 1 and 100
  3. Say “0ABC” as fast as possible for 4 seconds, note the last character said when time is up
  4. Combining the 0, A, B, or C from step 3 and your first initial. This will generate a column (ex: last letter was B, initial is G, column is BG) NOTE: “0” means NO prefix letter.
  5. Combine your column and row to get a cell coordinate.
  6. Select an area 4 cells wide by 30 cells tall
  7. Copy selected area and paste with a 4 cell spacing until it reaches the end on the right hand side.

Group F - Herbert W. Franke

Pseudocode

  1. Open the composition.
  2. Select the first group of 100 cells (A1-J10)  and paste special on the bottom left corner of the sheet  (A100)
  3. Copy the group of 10 that the paste special created
  4. Go to the top of the page and paste on U20
  5. Using the same selection (don't use copy and paste again) start pasting on the bottom right corner to create a diagonal pattern across. Continue until reaching the border of the page
  6. Continue as necessary to fill the entire page with the same pattern
